Scott Peak
Difficulty: advanced to expert. Distance: 20 miles. Vertical gain/loss +1500'/-2300'

A serious climb to 8200' up a jeep road connects to a singletrack descent, the Tahoe Rim Trail, Paige Meadows, and eventually back to Tahoe City.

Dirt begins at the top of Ward Canyon Road, elevation 7075'. From here, you climb on jeep road to just below the top of Scott Peak, where the singletrack begins. As you top out on Scott Peak, elevation 8200', be sure to stop to take in the spectacular views of Lake Tahoe, Alpine Meadows, and Ward Canyon.

The singletrack descent off the back of Scott Peak leads to the Ward-Alpine fire road. After a brief jaunt on the fire road, it's back on singletrack as you turn onto Rusty's Trail and then connect with the Tahoe Rim Trail to descend into Tahoe City.

From Tahoe City it's a 2 mile ride on the west shore bike path back to Cyclepaths.
