Mountain Biking in Lake Tahoe:
Ridge-top cruising, heart thumping climbs, technical singletrack, and furious descents...
With hundreds of miles of trails, the natural beauty of one of the country's largest bodies of fresh water, and the pristine high country of the Sierra

Nevada Mountains, it's easy to see why Lake Tahoe is fast becoming a hot spot for mountain biking. Detailed maps for many of the rides described here are available at our Tahoe City shop.

Tahoe Rim Trail
The Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) is an epic new high country route that circumnavigates the Lake Tahoe basin. The TRT typically follows the highest ridgeline overlooking the Tahoe basin affording eye-popping views and cruisable terrain. Access from lake level can involve some pretty big climbs so for those not accustomed to the altitude, we advise a shuttle to the trailhead.

Special Note: In several places the Tahoe Rim Trail passes through designated wilderness areas and other environmentally sensitive regions. These portions of the TRT are closed to mountain biking. On the West Shore, this includes the stretch of the TRT that follows the Pacific Crest Trail.
